Stakeholders of Killybegs Marine Cluster Donegal
Killybegs Marine Cluster was officially formed in February 2021, when Karl Bonner, Cluster manager was appointed. The Killybegs Marine Cluster is one of twelve clusters on the island of Ireland which is 100% funded under the Regional Technology Cluster Fund (RTCF). It is Ireland’s only dedicated blue economy marine cluster which is quite broad as it encompasses a range of blue economy related industries including, but not limited to commercial fishing, fish processing, marine engineering, offshore marine services, renewable energy, aquaculture, and marine tourism.
Although the Killybegs Marine Cluster is an industry driven ecosystem, it adopts a three key pillar framework, a Triple Helix, which comprises a mix of Industry, Academia, Government.
In addition to Enterprise Ireland, our stakeholders also include Donegal County Council, Donegal Local Enterprise Office, and Letterkenny Institute of Technology. The collective goal among all our stakeholders is to realise the true potential of our blue economy by maximizing sustainable economic growth from our Ocean.
